Why Pleinairstream? Well, plein air is a French term used to describe a way of painting. To work 'en plein air' means to paint outdoors in the ever changing atmosphere. Light and shadow are constantly evolving throughout each day and a plein air painter works to capture the essence of the moment on location. Add to this the fact that William and his partner -  photographer and artist Bethany Orbison - are traveling full time in an Airstream travel trailer which has become their home and art studio on wheels, and you can see how they came up with the term pleinairstream to cover the over all theme of this stage of their lives. They are traveling full time in an Airstream travel trailer which has become their home and art studio on wheels.

You can follow their progress via their personal blog Full Hookups and also shop for original artwork in The Gallery .

William and Bethany plan to travel the country and work on location for at least two years, maybe longer.  They began their trip in March of 2007 in the South Eastern US and have traveled up into New England and on down to Central Texas Hill Country for a few of the Winter months. After an extended stay in Santa Fe, NM they are now residing in Carmel, CA for a while. Please see our Workshops page for info on classes you can attend if you live in or plan to visit Carmel or the Monterey Peninsula in the coming months. Carmel Workshops and Classes
